Revamped message log settings
- This applies to: tabSRMM, beginning with version 2.1.0.0, 2008/02/13, released with Miranda 0.8 alpha build #10.
New dialog to set local message log options
The message log settings logic has changed in this build to improve usability. The following things were implemented:
- Removed the options from the message log menu. The menu is still present though, however, the number of entries have been reduced. Instead of cascading submenus to set the options, two new entries are in place:
- Set global messaging log options (will open the message log option page).
- Set local messaging options (this will open the "per contact" messaging options dialog.
- Additionally, there are two entries which allow to import and export message log settings (also known as themes.
- Renamed the contact menu entry from "tabSRMM Settings..." to "Messaging settings...".
- The option page Message Sessions->Message log[tab] now holds all available options, including the settings for timestamps.
Options added or changed in the global message log options dialog
- show timestamps
- show dates in timestamps
- show seconds in timestamps
- support BBCODE formatting (enable BBCODE in the message history log)
Options added to the local message log options dialog
Local message log options are 'Per Contact' which means they can override the global options. This is useful when you want a different look for your message log for a certain contact (good example would be RSS contacts). All global message log options can be set per contact on the second tab of the Messaging settings... dialog. To invoke this dialog, you can use the following methods:
- right click the contact on the contact list and choose Messaging Settings...
- In any open tabSRMM chat session, click the message log options button (the 4th from the right) and choose Local Messaging Settings..."
On the second page of this dialog, you can find the message log options. They consist of "3-state" checkboxes, which can have one of the following states:
- filled (the option is inherited from the defaults)
- checked (the option is overridden from the defaults and enabled)
- cleared (the option is overridden from the defaults and disabled).
For more information about configuring the message log and a description of the available option, refer to the message log page.
